The Taliban are on the verge of occupying Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. The Taliban have reached the town of Char Asiab, just 11 kilometers south of the country's main city. The militant group has already taken control of 18 of the country's 34 provincial capitals. Kandahar, Afghanistan's second largest city, and Herat, the third largest city, are now under Taliban control. Lastly, they took control of the town of Mazar-i-Sharif in Balkh province.
